ROOMTAP

RoomTap allows office workers to easily book meeting rooms by accessing a tablet located outside of each reservable space. The app allows users to see if a room is available, for how long, and gives users the ability to reserve a room. The goal of this project was to create a mobile app that has all the features described above along with the added functionality of allowing users to reserve individual desks for offices that have a hotel-style desk arrangements.

Initial Ideation

To kick off this project, we had a workshop with our project stakeholders, potential users, and the design/development team. In this session, we were able to align around project goals, identify key user scenarios and ideate some initial design solutions.

Design Iteration

Throughout the process of designing RoomTap, we went through many iterations of the reserve a room screen. It became quickly apparent that the experience in the existing tablet app would not work for the mobile app. It was crucial that this screen allowed users to be able to quickly see what rooms are available right now while simultaneously making it easy to find a room in the future. Below is a sample of designs pitched and evaluated by the team.

User Testing

To ensure that our designs are intuitive, we A-B user-tested our two top contenders using interactive prototypes created in Adobe XD. We conducted moderated user testing with realistic scenarios for users to work through. The results were extremely valuable in helping decide which direction performed the best and provided insights on ways to improve the screens in future iterations
